Wow, this second week went by fast. The beginning was kinda slow, mostly class and such, but ended wonderfully. I ended up going to Champs-Elysees again, but my friend Charlotte and I walked from the begining of les tuliers jardins (tulier gardens) all the way to le arc de triumph! Which is beautiful as you will see. Friday we had a field trip to L'Assemblée Nationale of France - a huge huge French government building, from about the 17th century, that is like a little city inside. One of the largest libraries in the world, a press section, their own private staff of bakers, cooks, fleurists, etc. The president of the national assembly lives in the top few floors of the building, as is required. and the room. the ROOM that they assemble in, every Tuesday at 3, is large but compact, they can fit 577 delegates in there! that night, went to an "american" bar, it was actually pretty fun - teeny and with lots of young people. Saturday - saw the catacombs in Denfert-Rochereau (imagine tunnels 20m underground with meticulously built walls of human bones and skulls surroundings you...along with plaques of french quips and quotes of death, etc) and then Musée D'Orsay. Beautiful, very different than the Louvre, full of paintings -Degas, Van Gogh, Talouse Letrec, Renoir, Matisse, Monet, Dali - and furniture! Can i just repeat that it is unreal to be standing in buildings, in tombs, and looking at paintings that were created 100s of years ago? The element of antiquity by itself is amazing to me, I just can't get passed it every time I see something from 1700. Anyway - here are only some of the pictures (i took like over 250). enjoy, et à la semaine prochaîne.
