9.1.10

Ma première semaine!

I saw soo much this week, it was ridiculous! Class started on Monday, I had like 2 and a half hours of non stop french, then a three hour long international studies class...ugh. my other two classes are also three hours long, but one of them doesn't start for another 2 weeks which is great! It is at Sciences Po, one of the most prestigious Grande Ecole of politics. That should be fun! Anyway. I went to the louvre, saw the Mona Lisa, saw Notre Dame (not the inside though) went to les Chatêaux de la Louire and saw Blois et Chambard, had a pris fixe meal in Saint Michel, had café expresso at several cafés! I have yet to eat a croissant or crêpe, but its on the list! Everything is très cher...very expensive. Seriously, everything in Paris costs more - even Mcdonalds. and Starbucks, its like 4 euro for a latté, or about $5.70. ridiculous. I haven't gone in starbucks, but thats what I heard.

The public transportation system here is incredible - there are three train lines, the RER (travels to the outskirts of the city), le Metro (just main Paris), and the tram (certain parts of Paris and in the street, like a trolley). We have these Navigo passes that work for EVERYTHING and you fill it up monthly or weekly, and it's great, they are actually less than 1 month unlimited pass for the CTA.  There are buses, too, but they are not as fat as the trains.
here are several pictures from the first week:
